Soltan Hajibeyov
(1919 - 1974)
He was an Azerbaijani composer, Peoples Artist of the USSR. Composer having specific talent, Pedagogue, Music public figure. He was born in Shusha, 1919. in 1930 he moved to Baku. He was Uzeyir Hajibeylis cousin. After graduating secondary school he entered Musical technical school. At the same time he works as conductor in the Musical Comedy theatre. His creative work began from this time. His first work is "Pioner kantata" and "Qızıl gül" musical comedy.
"Qızıl gül" put on stage in 1940, Baku Musical comedy theatre. In 1939 ne entered Azerbaijan State conservatory composer department, where he was student of Zeydman.
He had written spngs "Çiçəklərin söhbəti", "Neft haqqında nəğmə" for the lyrics by I.Zamanli, romances "Quşcuğaz", "Tənha yelkən ağarır" .
His later works included - "Döyüşçülər nəğməsi" ( at the war time), "Kəminə və Qazı" ( simphonyc part of this work is called ``Karvan`), "Yeni il", "Bahar", "Oynaq topum", "Lay – lay", "Bənövşə", "Bahar gəldi", "Yolka", "Pioner marşı", "İsgəndər və Çoban", "Gülşən" (1950), "Sarı bülbül", "Leyla", "Qarabağ şikəstəsi" "Bolqar süitası" and "Çex rəqsi" , "Konsert" ( 1964), and others.
He composed music for a number of spectacles- "Məhəbbət", "İnsan", "Eşq və İntiqam", "Kəndçi qızı", "Əliqulu evlənir".
He had worked in different position – from 1947 in Azerbaijan Dtate conservatory As teacher, from 1947 to 1962 in Azerbaijan State Filarmony as artistic director and director, from 1969 to 1974 in Azerbaijan state conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli as rector. Suleyman Aleskerov died in 1974. S.Hacıbəyov 1974-cü ildə vəfat etmişdir.
